Naiise@Central new naiise store 1

It’s, ahem, nice to see Naiise getting on so well. The local e-tailer of locally designed and sourced items has added another store to its growing empire – Naiise@Central, at (obviously) Clarke Quay Central. You’ll recognise the space – it was once home to Hong Kong lifestyle store Goods of Desire.

The new Naiise store is its third and largest – at 6,500 sq ft, it’s about the size of five five-room HDB flats. That’s a lot of space for stuff, and Naiise doesn’t disappoint: The store stocks original designs from over 400 brands, many of which are from Singapore, and the variety is impressive – furniture, home ware, tech accessories, fashion accessories, food, stationery.

These local designers at Naiise are our faves: Check out Scene Shang’s thermal flasks, Gracesmiths’ engraved wooden vases, and Halfhalf’s concrete coasters.

All of this can be found on the Naiise webstore, but the physical store has quite a few things going for it that you won’t get online. Plus, you can always buy the stuff online and pick it up here (or any of the other two Naiise stores at Westgate and Wheelock Place).

If you’re a backer of the local maker’s movement, check out Naiise@Central’s dedicated workshop space. There’s a workshop every weekend with the local artisans and craftspeople that make many of the lovely things you see at the store and online. Sign up to find out how your favourite local products are made – or if you just enjoy making things with your hands.

There’s even a portion of the store dedicated to Singapore music (below), with albums and merchandise by local acts such as Inch Chua and Wicked Aura Batucada. It’s not just a static showcase – the store plans to host local music gigs in this part of the store as well. (NICE, NAIISE! – please, there’s no way I could have resisted that.)

So if you’re in the area and have an hour or five to spare, check out Naiise@Central. At the very least, check out the giant cardboard zhao chai mao near the entrance (below), specially made for Naiise by local papersmiths Paper Carpenter (you can’t take this fella home, but ask nicely and one can be commissioned for you).
