They say Singapore is the Switzerland of the East. For the Ninth of August celebrations, three Swiss-made watches pay tribute to us instead. Here’s what you need to know about these limited-edition collections. All prices upon request.
Singapore gets a spot literally on this 24-hour timezone watch. FYI: We’re the initials in chilli red on the dial. Set ‘SIN’ as the home time by winding the crown till it lines up with the yellow arrow. The times for the other cities correspond on the hour and minute discs concurrently. First launched in 2014, the most striking feature of the ticker is the handpainted dial which takes 50 hours to complete. Which explains why this +65 version is limited to just nine pieces.
The brand pays homage to our famous “little red dot” ID for this outing. The red 10 o’clock hour marker is painted a bright red on this 18K yellow gold Big Bang model that also features a skeletonised chronograph movement. Limited to 10 pieces.
Gen Y-ers will recognise that lion’s head logo on the small seconds counter of this Star Classique Singapore Special Edition. Introduced in 1986 by the government, it was the official Lion City symbol. Flip the watch over and the transparent case back showcases the outline of modern-day Singapore architecture like Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the Bay. A portion of sales from this 50-piece collection will go to Pathlight School’s Poor and Needy Fund.
