HATW

HATW celine lioe

WHAT: Less than a year old, this label by former architect Celine Lioe (above) has already earned stockists such as multi-label e-store www.society-A.com with its flirty everyday wear. Her brand’s name is an acronym of the first four words in the phrase, “Happy are those who pursue their dreams”.

HATW

USP: Trendy, party-perfect pieces a la high street labels like Topshop – except they’re not mass produced, and there are only four collections a year. Everything from the bustier dresses to the snakeskin print miniskirts ($95-$190) is designed by Lioe using lace, silk and satin sourced from China and Singapore. More intricate pieces like a layered tulle maxi are hand-sewn by local seamstresses and take a day to complete. There’s even a premium line HATW By Celine, which does made-to-measure (from $300).

An adapted version first appeared in Female‘s August issue, out on newsstands today.
