diane von furstenberg kendall jenner

In the span of a year, I’ve done the cob (the curly lob); contemplated going for silver-grey highlights and tried out a natural-looking hair colour that changes intensity under different light settings. So it’s safe to say that there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to hair permutations for me (although I would probably stop short of shaving my head.)

Fittingly, then, it’s the hairdo that top models Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss and Kendall Jenner sported at Diane von Furstenberg‘s Spring Summer ’16 show that first caught my attention. More specifically: Their healthy-looking, artfully messy curls that have everything my limp, tired locks need right now: Bounce, volume and shine.

The inspiration for this look, according to hairstylist Orlando Pita in a Vogue interview, came from none other than DVF herself. A photo of a younger von Furstenberg with “big disco curls, pinned to one side with an oversized flower” led him to create a look that demonstrated carefree, youthful abandon. In the same interview, he explains how he created the look: With a curl shaping gel and a curling iron to tease locks into tight ringlets, then brushed out into messy, breezy waves. It’s a ‘do I’m looking forward to trying out.
