mac x guo pei dresses

Beijing-based couturier Guo Pei is bringing her signature exotic elegance to a new collaboration with MAC. It’s a logical next step for both – after all, she’s been working with the American beauty brand since her debut show in 2003. The designer, who shot to fame globally with Rihanna’s much-memed canary-yellow Met Gala outfit, has also been outfitting China’s elite for over two decades.

Expect pretty hues for lips and cheeks, and punchier ones for eyes.

“I call my inspiration “The Garden of Soul”, says Guo, who designed eight couture dresses to go along with the makeup. Products are divided into both daytime and nightime makeup, and is most obviously represented with her two eyeshadow quads (both $126): Morning Light features dreamy beiges and browns with a shimmery gold, while Night Sky’s vivid blue (Guo’s personal favourite) is anchored by a matte graphite shade.
