This year’s FemaleGP: The Best Dressed Edition will go down in our 19-year history as one of the raddest parties we’ve had. Held at the new Rakes club in Chijmes, over 300 people came down to witness our top 20 finalists, who sported hip new hairstyles thanks to Kimage (we love Rachel Vanessa Tan‘s new purplish-red ‘do and Nadirah Abdullah‘s curly short crop), funky adidas Original sneakers, and outfits spanning stylish Kingsmen-inspired suits on finalist Glenn Lee to a pink beret-and-sparkly-skirt combo on finalist Melissa Lim courtesy of Robinsons.

Fly Entertainment artiste Liv Lo kicked things off by introducing each finalist and the judging criteria for this year: the finalists’ OOTDs on Instagram; how they styled themselves for an editorial shoot in our November issue; and their views on fashion in a video interview screened on-site. Then the party started proper with DJ Dave Does helming the decks (“I can’t wait to dance!”, quipped our senior fashion writer Imran Jalal) and a roomful of (happily buzzed) guests comprising industry insiders, tastemakers from the local fashion and design scene, and – but of course – the Female Collective.

Chua Sihui’s signature look: A monochrome palette and a loosely tied bandana around her neck.

And then the Best Dressed Male & Female were unveiled: assistant product manager Chua Sihui and visual merchandiser Hong Yu Ran walked off with the top spots. Says our editor Noelle Loh, one of five judges: “Both winners stood out with their natural charisma and outgoing yet stylish approach to dressing up. They’re the perfect examples of people here in Singapore becoming increasingly – and genuinely – enthusiastic about fashion.” What they took home: $2,000 worth of prizes from sponsors and partners, including gift cards from Robinsons and Nars and vouchers from Adidas Originals, Kimage and Carat* London.

How we closed the event: With more dancing, naturally. Hanli Hoefer, Charmaine Seah-Ong, Guan Min (who just broke the news about a major new gig she’s taking on), Linda Hao, Amanda Keisha Ang and Nadia Rahmat (sadly, Aarika Lee was away on her Bali adventure, and you can see her snaps on our Instagram @female_singapore) took to the dance floor like fish to water, along with PR maven Sandra Cameron and friends.

Stay tuned for more photos of the fashion-forward crowd and the stylish guests whose outfits we love.
