You may be dressed in the sexiest gowns or barely there bridal lingerie, but bridal boudoir shoots are supposed to be more romantic than risqué. Here are some points to note.
Getting the right photographer
Having the right photographer is key because a good photographer will know the fine line between an artistic shoot, and one that’s tawdry. Look through his or her portfolio for samples, and see if he or she has done any boudoir photography, as well as reviews you can find on forums. Also, speak to your photographer on what’s comfortable for you and what’s not. After all, you will be barely dressed during the shoot and if you are not comfortable and confident, it will show in the photos.

Lingerie
For a bridal boudoir shoot, think feminine, pretty lace or luxe silk and satin. Or if you’re not comfortable with the idea of being clad in only your underwear, try robes, slips or camisoles that are still sexy without revealing too much. One of our favourite go-tos for the moment is local lingerie brand Naked & Unbound for classy handmade lace bralettes in black and white (the white collection will be out later this month).

Lighting
Natural sunlight is fantastic for creating an airy and dreamy vibe, besides being very flattering, so get a location with huge windows or French windows. Studio lighting can be a bit more tricky, depending on the photographer. Again, check out his or her works – the lighting should flatter the model and bring out her best features.

Less is more
Even if you’re thinking of baring it all, covering up can be as sexy and alluring. Use the bedsheets, tulle or even your veil for a subtly sexy look that leaves more to the imagination.

The poses
Three key words: Romantic, effortless and classy. Think lounging on a chaise, standing by the window, lazing on the bed, or you can even create playful moments like a pillow fight (with lots of feathers!) with your other half. You can also get tons of inspiration from Pinterest.
