The 24/7 flash mob (clockwise from left): Linda Hao, Bobby Luo, Ritz Lim, Gilda Su, Samuel Wong, and Nadia Rahmat

Never mind that it’s been nearly a year since Bobby Luo and Ritz Lim closed The Butter Factory, the hip hop/electro club (which they co-founded) that built a following among the young, creative set – including everyone else pictured here – with its street art-adorned walls and madcap costume parties. For this bunch, every day is a club night. Says Luo: “Ritz and I dress up for anything all the time.” (For this shoot, it’s a striped shirt and pants combo by Bernhard Willhelm – in black for Luo and orange for Lim – complete with matching wigs.)

Since winding down Butter, the duo have launched Yum Yum Disco Dong, a pop-up club night at The Black Swan, meant to be a throwback to the heady nightlife scene of the ’70s. Meanwhile, Superspace, their 19-month-old multi-label boutique/salon at Orchardgateway, is a mecca for cult, rave-ready brands from Singapore and beyond.

Among them are the kawaii-meets-street Revasseur and sportswear-influenced menswear label Evenodd, owned and designed by Su and Wong (both also co-own the store) respectively. (Su’s in a full get-up from her own S/S ’16 collection while Wong customised the metallic red shorts suit for himself.)

Adding to the club kid cachet are It girls/F-collective members Linda Hao and Nadia Rahmat. Regulars at Superspace (Hao’s soon-to-be-defunct label Yesah is sold on site), both are known for their adventurous personal style that’s helped turn them into social media fashion stars – cue Hao’s head-to-toe sequinned get-up (“worn with sexy, old-school hair and makeup”), and Rahmat’s Lara-Croft-on-steroids look (she loaned the headgear from Luo). Says the latter, who’s event honcho at hip music joint Kilo: “We’re very spontaneous dressers… Sometimes, there’s not much of a difference between how we dress for everyday and parties.”
