Our cells’ self-repairing abilities slow down with age, while external factors like UV rays throw their natural processes off-kilter. These rebooting treatments promise to rejig skin’s natural 28-day renewal cycle, so it’s healthier, looks younger and works more efficiently. By Moh Shuying.
Designed to work with skin’s renewal cycle and help “reset” overworked skin to its optimal abilities, this program comprises four different formulas, each divided into seven single-use oil sachets that last a week. How they supposedly work: Week One’s formula focuses on exfoliation; Week Two helps to strengthen skin; Week Three balances and tones the complexion; while Week Four boosts skin radiance and its renewal process.
This 28-day booster treatment has Swiss snow algae extract, which reportedly helps to boost skin cells’ energy levels and their natural detoxifying abilities. This supposedly enhances skin’s renewal cycle (back to its natural, healthy 28-day turnover rate), giving a more youthful-looking complexion. Recommended to be used every three months, it also has peptides that are said to boost collagen and elastin production.
This trio reportedly work to re-synchronise skin’s natural biological rhythm of protecting in the day and repairing at night. Le Jour de Chanel has jasmine extract (said to boost cellular energy while gently exfoliating), and should be applied every morning after cleansing. La Nuit de Chanel, for use nightly, boasts frankincense extract and hyaluronic acid to soothe and hydrate skin, in turn encouraging cellular repair. Lastly, Le Weekend de Chanel, to be applied once a week, day and night, purifies skin with glycolic acid and May Rose water, removing surface dead skin cells and impurities.
This one-month repairing program reportedly helps mend the dermal-epidermal junction (the layer of tissue between the top and deeper layer of skin) so skin becomes firmer, and boost communication between cells so they work more efficiently. Rich in antioxidants, it is said to fight stress and free radical damage, as well as strengthen skin’s protective barrier.
This limited edition three-month treatment set uses Yquem Marcs extract – a natural fertiliser made of white grape skin and seeds – to reportedly make skin cells more productive and work faster. Over time, it also promises to raise collagen production back to its optimal level. Results are said to last for at least nine months, with skin becoming smoother, more toned and luminous.
