You know you’ve checked in into a five-star resort when the private villa comes with a – get this – guest house. That sort of luxury comes naturally when the resort in question is The Sanchaya.
Opened last year, the colonial-inspired beachfront property in Bintan has since made it to several best hotel lists. It was also the backdrop for an upcoming fashion shoot in the June edition of Female. Amongst its trappings: UK-trained butlers, in-room Bang & Olufson gadgets, and a 15-day residency by Japanese chef Hiroaki Nakamura from May 1.
All these are part of its Russian owner Natalya Pavchinskaya’s take on18th and 19th century European salon hospitality. Pavchinskaya’s baby, however, is the 2,580 sq ft bungalow dubbed Vanda Villa, which makes for a perfect summer home. Besides the guest house, the two-storey property comes with three bedrooms filled with super king-sized beds, free-standing tubs, a kitchen, a pool, dining room and a balcony on the second floor that’s the size of a 4-bedroom HDB flat.
