A month after we featured cool office rental space The Working Capitol, its cafe The Daily Round-Up finally opens, serving artisanal grub and great coffee.

Working Capitol 2 What: A former 1920s biscuit factory turned co-working office building that’s so cool, it rivals Facebook’s. Made over by Takenouchi Webb (the design firm behind hip joints such as Potato Head Folk and The Black Swan), this modern-day creative commune boasts sleek desks with Bauhaus-inspired lamps, a members-only beer garden, and The Daily Round-up, an adjoining cafe that’s open to public.

Working Capitol

Why: Besides the boutique short-term work spaces that are up for rent, the other draw is The Daily Round-up – a gem for anyone looking for a quiet spot to chill out, plug in and get some work done. Managed by The Lo & Behold Group (owners of Tanjong Beach Club, Loof and The Black Swan), it’s the perfect “office away from the office”. Open from 8am to 8pm daily, it has free Wi-Fi plus an excellent menu: freshly baked galettes and crepes, Papa Palheta coffee, and Comptoir Francais teas to get those brain juices flowing. (If you prefer the food in the neighbourhood, here’s an amazing food guide to Tiong Bahru).
