If you’re all about natural-looking brows, then you’re going to dig this long-lasting, velvety smooth powder, which comes in three shades.

We spoke to the brand’s global brow authority, Jared Bailey, where he shares with us his must-have brow products and tips on drawing the perfect brow.

What Makes The Benefit Foolproof Brow Powder Different

Jared Bailey (JB): “Foolproof (Brow Powder) is completely different when it comes to the world of brow powders for two reasons. One, the layout of the powder. Most of the time when you get a brow powder it’s really confusing because you have all these different colours but you’re not very sure where they go. So we designed the pan to look like an eyebrow so you know exactly where to put each colour. But what’s really cool is the applicator. And you’re probably gonna look at this and be like what’s so cool about that, it’s a sponge. Well, it’s not really a sponge, it’s a blender – the first brow blender actually. It has these tiny little pores that pick up the powder so there’s basically zero fall out and you just have to buff it into the brow and it creates this soft, natural look. And you’d probably think we missed out on the brush but we actually included one hidden inside the applicator.”

The difference between the Foolproof Brow Powder and other Benefit brow products

JB: “All of our products solve different concerns and dilemmas. So if you have sparse brows or patchy eyebrows, all these products kind of serve those purposes. But we didn’t really have something for brows that have gaps and real sparseness. So what we wanted to do was create a powder that would adhere to the oils in the skin to really make those gaps just disappear.”

Brow products he recommends

JB: “I think everybody needs a good pencil. Like the GoofProof for example, it is one of those products that I feel every woman needs in their brow arsenal because it has this wide base to kind of fill in fast and easy; and then there’s a really narrow tip which is gonna give you definition, and of course, we always have that Spoolie so you can blend it and this kinda creates a wash of colour across the entire brow but you can still make it pretty define with that tip. Give Me Brow is another product I feel every woman should have because it adds texture and some bulk. A primer is also very important especially in climates like Singapore where it’s very warm and humid. So the Browvo conditioning primer is crucial when it comes to making your brows stay on. It also has soy and keratin proteins inside so aside from keeping your brow makeup on, it actually helps your brows look healthier and fuller.”

The best way to take care of your eyebrows

JB: “100 per cent see a professional. Start by going to a pro to get the base shape. Your eyebrows should bring balance and proportion to your face so it’s important somebody is doing them and they can see the full picture and balance it out, make sure things are even. Rule number one when it comes to brows: there must always be two of them so if you have hairs peeking in the middle you should make sure you tweeze those away. Number two: I would say use a pencil, like a micro liner, to outline your brow and make sure you don’t tweeze hairs that are outside of that shape. Don’t ever power tweeze. There’s going to be holes and patches and you run the risk of them not having to grow back. And last, stay away from the magnifying mirror, always use a normal mirror.”

On the importance of eyebrows

JB: “Perfect skin and perfect brows are basically the building blocks of beauty. Once you have those two things down, you tend to wear less makeup.”

Recent brow trends he is obsessed with

JB: “I think the latest brow trend to really pick up steam is feather brows and I love them. That feathery, upward styling is so effortlessly chic and there’s something bohemian about it. But you can really fake that feather brow easily by using a micro liner like Precisely My Brow and literally all you gotta do is just flick it through the brow to create those upward hair-like strokes and then you use an invisible shaping and setting gel to kind of over direct the hair in that direction.”

Tips when drawing your eyebrows

JB: “Work with your natural features. If you’re filling in your own brows, you can use the same technique that we use at Benefit’s brow bars which is called brow mapping and is basically a three step custom technique to finding the perfect shape on any face. So you take your favourite brow pencil and measure from the dimple of the nose straight up to the beginning portion of the brow and that’s where the brow should start. That’s going to create a slimming effect on the nose and start to bring the eyes closer together and balance those out. Then, measure from the outer portion of the nose across the centre of the iris and that’s gonna point to where the brows should arch. The third part is to measure the outer portion of the nose to the outer corner of the eye and it will show you where the brow should end and make a little mark cause that’s gonna help you find that perfect length so if it’s too short it tends to round up the face and if it’s too long it can pull down the eye.”
