blowplusbar undone color review

The treatment

The three to four-hour treatment uses a hair colouring technique that combines two popular trends – balayage (meaning “sweep” in French, where colour is applied freehand) and ombre (gradations of colour) – to create natural-looking, subtle highlights. After deciding on a rose gold shade, my hair is divided into various sections, and bleach is lightly applied using a brush. Next, my hair is covered in cling wrap and heated for 25 minutes.

After a quick wash, the stylist applies two different colours on the bleached portions in a freehand manner: a pinkish colour for my ends and a darker red for the rest. My hair is then covered again with cling wrap and heated for 20 minutes. It ends with a final rinse and blow-dry.

The verdict

I like how my rose gold highlights – a mix of pink, red and orange hues – begin mid-length, so my tresses won’t have obvious roots when they grow out. The bleaching process was also surprisingly painless and odourless. From $188, Blow+Bar, Level 5 One Raffles Place, tel: 6438-7005
