Heightened Senses

For the last couple of years, it was sold only at selected speciality stores. Now, French candle-and-fragrance brand Diptyque is not only back in the spotlight at Escentials at Tangs, but it also offers spruced-up packaging and bodycare.

The selection is the widest one yet, with a near-complete range of the brand’s scented candles and EDTs. Room sprays, shower gels and accessories like wick trimmers and candlesnuffers have also been brought in to complete the
Diptyque experience.

The highlight, though, is the new luxury line, the Art of Bodycare. It comprises a creamy shower wash, light body lotion, body butter, nourishing hand balm and a sexy warm wood-scented body oil that doubles as a bath oil.

Unlike the brand’s existing shower gels, which have the same fragrances as its candles and EDTs, the five items in Bodycare boast their own unique scents inspired by the Mediterranean. From the olives and lemon of Aleppo to Florence’s iris flowers and the scents of sweet almond and argan oil from the ancient city of Alexandria, the products turn bath time into a dreamy, sun-drenched holiday with your imagination.

They’re also more costly: from $77 for the Luxurious Hand Balm to $151 for the Rich Body Butter. However, Ashley Gay, marketing executive for Escentials, says: “The pricing is due to the top-notch ingredients used in the products, like organic olive oil, organic honey and argan oil, which is scarce.”

Turn up the lights
Neon lips don’t have to be a tacky relic from the ’80s. This season’s are still bright, but rich and matte, not fluorescent, and best worn with natural-looking eyes.

Hair Apparent
When it comes to makeup brushes, the key thing is how soft they are. And cult Japanese brand Artisan & Artist, famous for its calligraphy brush heritage, really knows how to make them oh-so-soft (if we had blankets made from them, we’d never get out of bed). How? Because each hair is placed and cut by hand at a specific angle so there’s zero scratch. Bonus point: All natural hairs are cruelty free, which means no animals are killed or hurt to produce the brushes. At Schmidt Marketing Flagship Store.
