Base makeup is a must-have for me, and I especially love cushions and makeup that come from the land of Kpop. After trying out a plethora of Korean foundations, there are a handful I tend to re-purchase. My preferences are quite simple really. I prefer my foundations to be high coverage (or at least buildable) with SPF. It should also have a weightless formula that feels like second skin and not settle into my fine lines.
Besides foundation, concealers are also a must. They help to brighten my undereye area and of course, cover up any spots, blemishes and other imperfections. Here, I pick out the best ones I’ve ever tried.
#1: Etude House Double Lasting Foundation, $33.90
This liquid foundation blends easily onto my skin, does not settle into my fine lines and gives a semi-matte finish. It is also very long lasting and provides a medium to full coverage without making my skin look cakey.
#2: Missha M Radiance Foundation, $29.90
If you want to achieve a radiant, flawless finish, this foundation is perfect for you. It is extremely lightweight and provides nourishing, moisturising and UV blocking benefits.
#3: Laneige Water Glow Gel Foundation, $59
Koreans are known for their dewy, supple skin so it’s no surprise that many of their foundations help you achieve that look. With a buildable formula, this gel-type foundation contains 70 per cent moisture and also smooths out my skin’s texture.
#4: 3CE Cover Cream Foundation, $41, Sephora
This creamy foundation gives medium to full coverage and gently melts into my skin for a fresh, luminous wear all day. It is also formulated with camellia and moringa seed oil to ensure my skin stays hydrated.
#5: Clio Kill Cover Airwear Foundation, $29.90, Watsons
This features the brand’s air touch technology which provides buildable coverage with a weightless texture. It is also made with a skin lifting serum and aquaporin to even out skin tone and improve skin elasticity.
#6: Innisfree Long Wear Cover Foundation, $30
This long wear liquid foundation contains micro particles which conceal pores, blemishes, and evens out skin tone. It also blends easily and is said to last for up to 18 hours.
#7: Pony Effect Pro Fit Liquid Concealer, $29.70, www.lazada.sg
This is definitely my holy grail of concealers as it is very lightweight and does not crease especially when I apply it to my undereye area. Its smooth, blendable formula is another plus point. Tip: I tend to dot it across the areas I want to conceal as a little of this product goes a long way.
#8: The Saem Cover Perfection Tip Concealer, $7, www.lazada.sg
This covers spots and blemishes on my skin like a dream. It has a very creamy formula and even contains SPF to protect my skin from harmful UV rays. The best part? It brightens up my undereye and can even double up as an illuminator to give you a subtle, natural-looking glow.
