I am a huge K-beauty junkie. I love trying out new products and although some may not work best for my skin, there’s always a handful that manages to amaze me. It’s pretty much widely known that the Koreans are very advanced with their beauty game and are always creating new, innovative products which are both effective and creative. Here, I narrow down my favourite Korean beauty products that have changed my skin.
#1: Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Color Clay Mask, $13 each
These clay masks come in seven different types of colours, each targeted at different skin concerns. It can be used on its own or customised to treat your problematic areas. The combination above consists of a brightening, hydrating and vitalising mask that can be applied on different parts of your face.
#2: Mamonde Rose Water Toner, $22
This is personally my all time favourite toner as it is infused with Bulgarian damask rose water which is safe for sensitive skin and helps to brighten my complexion. Most importantly, it hydrates my skin leaving it soft and supple. You can even use this toner as a facial mist or makeup cleanser as well.
#3: Innisfree Bija Cica Balm, $35
Cica balms have become a huge staple in my routine as they help to protect my skin from external irritants and minimise the appearance of blemishes. This moisturising balm spreads evenly on my skin without leaving it greasy or tacky. It also contains purified Centella Asiatica which helps in the care of damaged skin.
#4: Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask, $27
Taking care of your puckers is as important as your skin. I have very dry lips so I will always apply this hydrating mask before I sleep to melt away dead skin.
#5: Iope Air Cushion XP, $49.80, www.iherb.com
This multi-tasking cushion aids in blurring out my pores, concealing and provides SPF to protect my skin from UV rays. It also doubles up as a skincare product as it is moisturising and contains anti-ageing properties. It applies evenly on my skin and gives off a dewy, flawless finish.
#6: Innisfree Skinny Waterproof Microcara, $17
With an extremely slim and skinny brush, this mascara coats even the shortest of my lashes without it clumping or weighing my lashes down. It is also water resistant and sweatproof, perfect for the hotter months.
#7: Etude House Tint My Brows Gel, $15.90
This is definitely a game-changer for those who have sparse brows and do not prefer having eyebrow embroidery done. Simply apply the gel tint, let it set and peel it after two hours. It helps to tint your eyebrows for approximately three to five days without any side effects.
#8: Nature Republic Aloe Vera Soothing Gel, $15, www.lazada.com
Here’s another multi-tasker that helps to address many common skin problems. It can be used as a face, body or hair moisturiser and mask and can even treat sunburns (yes, this is your summer must-have product). It also absorbs quickly into my skin and gives off a cooling effect.
#9: Cosrx Acne Pimple Pad, $5.90, Watsons
Since I started using these patches, I have yet to return to pimple creams and gels. Simply apply one patch on the affected area before going to bed. It helps to treat the acne overnight so you’ll wake up with instant results (trust me, my pimple calmed down tremendously).
