The New Cellulite Buster

Sought after for its body-shaping and skin-firming qualities, Thermage is a non-surgical, non-invasive radio frequency (RF) treatment that has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Using a device known as a body tip, radio frequency energy is “fired” deep into the dermis to tighten the tissues under the skin. This has a smoothing and contouring effect on the area treated, reducing the appearance of “orange-peel” skin. Thermage also stimulates collagen production in the skin for a firmer appearance.

Recently, the development of a new 16cm2 body tip (more than five times bigger than the next largest tip) has helped to improve the treatment even further.

Size matters
With the new tip, Thermage now takes less than half the time required (an hour instead of two), is less uncomfortable and more efficient, optimising the removal and treatment of unsightly bulges and cellulite.

Response has been good, says Dr Calvin Chan of Calvin Chan Aesthetic & Laser Clinic, who has been using the new giant tip since last December. “Previously, patients experienced a spike of heat at the end of each shot, but the way the energy is delivered with the new tip is slightly different. It eliminates the heat spike, which may cause discomfort, without compromising on the level of energy delivered. The larger surface area covered also means that treatment times are reduced.”
Results vary for individuals, but Dr Chan tells us his clients can see 10 to 15 per cent of the desired results immediately after the first treatment, with the remaining improvements emerging over the next six months. Results last two to three years.

No pain, no gain
The side effects for Thermage can include …

Hair Apparent
When it comes to makeup brushes, the key thing is how soft they are. And cult Japanese brand Artisan & Artist, famous for its calligraphy brush heritage, really knows how to make them oh-so-soft (if we had blankets made from them, we’d never get out of bed). How? Because each hair is placed and cut by hand at a specific angle so there’s zero scratch. Bonus point: All natural hairs are cruelty free, which means no animals are killed or hurt to produce the brushes. At Schmidt Marketing Flagship Store.
