Power DPL (Dynamic Pulsed Light) Organic Treatment

body treatments

The Treatment

This 60-minute body treatment helps to control acne outbreaks, diminish pimple scars, and destroy acne-causing bacteria to effectively prevent future breakouts. My therapist starts off the treatment by cleansing my back followed by a scrub. She then begins the extraction procedure, which was quite painful but still bearable. After which, she applies a collagen gel before using the DPL (Dynamic Pulsed Light) machine to go over the scars and acne on my back. This technology uses light and heat to penetrate into the deeper layers of my skin to lighten pigmentation, age spots and freckles. Once done, she applies the brand’s Alfalfa and Fig Spot Solution Serum, which is formulated with pea extract and vitamin A-rich organic carrot extract, to control sebum production and encourage skin renewal. She then applies the Ultra-Revive H20+ Masque, which contains a blend of antioxidant-rich ingredients such as green tea, asafetida, vitamin C and E for 15 minutes to hydrate and nourish my back. She ends off the treatment by applying a Kiwi Repair Gel to moisturise my skin.

The Verdict

My back felt very smooth and supple post-treatment although I found the extraction process to be more painful then I expected even though it was still bearable. After a few days, I found that my scars were fading and there were no new pimples forming. My therapist was very gentle when applying products and massaging it onto my back, making the treatment a very relaxing one. $480, Kew Organics (#01-47 Everton Park), tel: 6534-8255

The Treatment

This 60-minute full-body spa treatment incorporates sound therapy unique to Hong Kong, which has been produced and recorded by Devialet, French innovator in sound technology. It starts off with a quick consultation with my therapist on the areas I would like her to focus on. She then plays the audio track (which is used throughout the treatment) and begins massaging my back with a blend of essential oils such as lavender tea tree and chamomile. The audio journey works in unison with the massages during the treatment and my therapist uses long, flowing strokes and soothing massage techniques, which are in harmony with the deep base and calming sounds. She then proceeds to massage my legs and face. She ends off the treatment by gently massaging my face.

The Verdict

This has got to be one of the most pampering spa treatments I have ever tried. The massages were super gentle, painless and very relaxing, and my body aches did not return post-treatment. My skin also felt super soft, smooth and hydrated. HK$1,300 (S$224), Plateau Spa (11th floor, Grand Hyatt Hong Kong), tel: 852-2584-7688
