The AM To PM Rescue: Shiseido Future Solutions LX Cream Duo

Most skincare meant to renew the complexion is to be used at night – to work in sync with skin’s natural repair function. Checking that box is the Total Regenerating Cream E ($390), infused not only with burnet extract to break down damaged cells, but also Enmei, a herb that Shiseido’s discovered to strengthen skin. Now, how to do the same during one’s waking hours? The brand’s solution: Add Enmei to a day moisturiser that’s complementary in name (the Total Protective Cream E, $350) – it supposedly amps up the restorative effect, while protecting against pollution and such with a special powder. Sometimes, simple does it indeed.

Don’t be fooled by its watery, essence-like texture. An upgrade of the brand’s already popular serum of the same name, it does what its predecessor did: hydrate; boost radiance and prep the complexion to better soak up all the benefits of your remaining skincare. What it supposedly does in addition for the same investment (it’s $420 a bottle): helps strengthen root cells for better overall health, enhances skin’s barrier function, and keeps skin firm. In short, it promises to solve all skin woes.
