Lucky Cat Coffee Kitchen is a new venture by the good folks behind equally hip Sajiva Coffee & Ceramics. Boasting a clean, contemporary interior with marble-topped round tables, mosaic tiles and brick walls, its menu covers everything from light snacks to more substantial mains like pan-seared salmon. The biggest draw here? Being able to get your coffee fix 24/7. Jalan HR Rasuna Said, South Parking Plaza Festival No.1, open 24 hours daily

#2: Nala Coffee

It’s all about the details here: From the clean, all-white spiral staircase to its wood furnishings, the minimalist cafe has a bright, airy interior thanks to its high ceiling and floor-to-ceiling glass walls, affording natural light and a generous outdoor view. While the menu comprises standard cafe fare, it’s an ideal spot for a relaxing afternoon. Jalan Terminal Bus Simatupang No.5, Pondok Pinang, open 8am-6pm daily

#3: Tanamera Coffee

For a more intimate setting with feel-good vibes, this is the #1 place to head to. Known for their extensive coffee options made from local premium Arabica beans, their range includes single-origin brews like Rasuna Natural (it has fruity notes with a sweet caramel finish) and Malabar Honey (it has hints of peanut butter and chocolate). On the food menu: healthy breakfast foods and pretty desserts that make food shots mandatory. Thamrin City Office Park AA07, open 7am-6pm daily

#4: Upo Coffee

Just about everyone heads here to take a shot with the cafe’s larger-than-life teddy bear plushie. Photo op aside, one highlight here is the cafe’s unique food and beverage presentation. Must-tries include flavoured iced lattes in rich hues of purple (taro), red (red velvet) and green (green tea). Fans of hearty nosh won’t be disappointed, too: there’s french toast with teriyaki beef, and a chicken breast fillet in ciabatta bun. Jalan Marina Indah Raya, Block H No.79, Pantai Indah Kapuk

#5: Koultoura Coffee

If you like whimsy, here’s a place to indulge in all things art and coffee. The coffee joint boasts a cosy, homey setting with distinctive animal framed illustrations and murals by Jakarta-based visual communicator FullFill (@fullfillisme). Food-wise, an extensive menu awaits: think a croque madame sandwich and mouth-watering truffle mac and cheese. Jalan Taman Ratu Raya, Block AA2/33, open 9am-9pm daily

#6: Monolog Coffee

Apart from its varied menu, some (read: die-hard Instagrammers) head here for the best corner seats in the house, which are set against red brick walls. Complete with an alfresco dining area that’s partly indoors, the five-year-old establishment certainly takes its food and decor seriously. Also a popular hangout spot amongst the urban collective and creative professionals, many come to do work while noshing on fanciful pastries and all-day dining offerings. Jalan Asia Afrika No.8, Plaza Senayan, Pondok Indah Mall

#7: Woodpecker Coffee

What sets Woodpecker Coffee apart from its other counterparts: It’s part cafe, part lifestyle store. The idyllic space (think modern light installations, felt stools, wood wall strips) has won cafe-goers over by serving high-quality brews and healthy dishes. The breakfast bar comprises cold-pressed juices, cereal and muesli with fruit toppings, while its retail arm, The Good Things In Life, sells home decor trinkets like local artisan-made ceramics and Melbourne-based brand Suku Home pillow covers. Jalan Panglima Polim V No.23, Kebayoran Baru, open 10am-10pm daily
