Foodies will probably flock to the epic brunch events taking place this Saturday at Meatliquor, Park Bench Deli and Hort Park, but if jostling with the crowds and waiting in line deter you, there’s another brunch to head down to at Japanese restaurant Kinki.

If you’re expecting this to be a conventional Japanese dining affair, don’t. The six-year-old establishment’s edgy waterfront space at Customs House defies Japanese culture: There’s a floor mural by American tattoo artist Chris Garver, and you might be able to spot local urban artist ANTZ’s graffiti marks on their DJ console. Its approach to food is similar: They serve up modern Japanese dishes, and cocktails also come with a blend of Eastern and Western influences.

Dubbed Bottomless Brunch, you’ll enjoy a fabulous a la carte spread of free-flow sushi, sashimi, main dishes and desserts for $52++ per person. Highlights include a wagyu foie gras donburi; hot dynamite (aka a maki roll of fried salmon, yellowtail, scallion and cayenne pepper); and pan-seared Hokkaido scallop sushi.

Soft drinks, tea and still/sparkling water are also free-flow at an additional $5, and if you’re planning to sample Japanese sake, shochu or prosecco, top up $35++ per type of liquor to imbibe them throughout your meal. Every Saturday from 12pm to 3pm, #02-02 Customs House, call 6533-3471 to make a reservation
