loewe minor white exhibition

That is the topic at heart of the Loewe Foundation’s latest exhibition -“Minor White: Metaphors” – which focuses on the seminal works of mid 20th century photographer, Minor White.

Who is Minor White, you ask?

Photographer Minor White, “Radio & Truck”

The late Minor White was one of America’s greatest photographers in the postwar era – he was famed for his modernist and abstract approach to photography, creating thousands of monochromatic images that inherently dealt with White’s lifelong struggles with his sexual orientation.

40 of White’s original prints will be on show at the exhibition, ranging from abstract interpretations on nature, landscape to intimate studies of the male body. It will be the first solo exhibition in Spain to be dedicated to the works of Minor White.

On from now till August 25, if you happen to be in Madrid during this period, be sure to make a beeline for the Loewe gallery at Gran Via, 8, Madrid. If you ask me, even if you’re not a photography connoisseur, White’s crisp and haunting works are enough reason for me to head down.
