When you think about Peruvian restaurant, think exotic cuisines, salsa-driven party vibes and knock-out authentic flavours. Tono Cevicheria is said to be the first authentic Peruvian in Asia. Brought to you by the folks behind contemporary Spanish restaurant and bar, OLA “Cocina del Mar”, the restaurant opened last month on 24 June and will be cooking up a variety of dishes using Peruvian ingredients to recapture the essential flavours and authenticity of the food. Amongst the array of choices, here’s the restaurant’s dish we are most excited about.

Peruvian Ceviche is known as one of the most democratic of dishes that that speaks to all cultures, classes and societies in Peru. Ceviche originated in the coastal regions of Peru and is one of the foods that best represents Peru. The dish is typically made out of fresh raw fish cured in citrus juices with added chilis and onions for a boost of flavour – but that’s not all. Ceviche is commonly accompanied by Pisco Sour, an alcoholic beverage made out of Angostura bitters with hints of citrusy flavours and egg white.

Headed by Executive Chef Mario Malvaez, the dynamic team of all-rounded Latin American chefs were trained in Lima to ensure every dish is authentic and well-prepared. If you’re still new to the exotic menu, some dishes you seriously have to try (apart from the Ceviche) are Causas (which is made out of whipped potatoes, aji pepper, limes and other different flavourful toppings) and for those with a sweet tooth, we recommend trying the Alfajores, which is basically homemade butter cookies topped with dulce de leche filling (a creamy caramel sauce) and mango mousse.

Tono Cevicheria is located at 7 Fraser Street, #01-49/50 Duo Galleria and is open from Monday – Friday, 12pm-2.30pm and 6pm-10pm on both weekdays and Saturday included.
