Clare Waight Keller (CWK) could not have been a better person to carry on the torch at storied French maison Givenchy post-Riccardo Tisci. Her creative directorial debut for S/S ’18 already showed she had the chops to bring her own edge to the brand and still please the red carpet style pundits. Her maiden couture collection for the brand proved she knows how women want to dress in 2018. And her recent F/W ’18 collection let us know she is sensitive to the codes that the recently departed Hubert de Givenchy built.
So what’s next for CWK? We got a preview of her latest creative direction for the brand at the reopening of the Givenchy store at Hong Kong’s IFC mall on March 15. Taking inspiration from a French apartment, the updated store design (it’s already rolled out in Singapore too) boasts a more feminine decor. Take for instance the wrought iron gates and drawn back curtains that frame the store facade. The soft white walls and moldings also add to the private townhouse feel.
To celebrate the store debut, Givenchy’s chief executive Philippe Fortunato invited more than 100 guests and Asian celebrities including Korean stars Lee Dong Wook and Krystal Jung for a cocktail. Which brings us to the next subject: CWK’s designs are pretty darn perfect if you want to just look like a really cool rock star. Here, we pick out our favourites.
