If you’re a fan of Icelandic songstress Bjork, good news: indie movie outfit The Projector is screening Biophilia Live next Saturday – it’s a concert film that documents Bjork performing all the tracks from her well-received eighth album, Biophilia (2011).
If you only know her as that lady who wore that memorable swan dress to the 2001 Oscars (yes, that is one of several eggs she intentionally placed on the floor), think again. Long before the likes of Lady Gaga, Bjork has been pushing the boundaries, collaborating with the most avant garde designers (the late Alexander McQueen was a frequent collaborator) and creatives of the day to come up with one inspiring look after another.
You can laugh at the swan dress but there’s no denying that Bjork is a free spirit. And while Gaga has really toned down on her looks these days – a far cry from her old Meat Dress era – the 51-year-old Bjork, who first burst into international notice back in the early ’90s, is still going strong with her experimental looks.
