Whether it was a full-on shimmery gown or understated sequin appliques, metallic numbers were everywhere on the Golden Globes 2017 red carpet, with many stars opting to go with glittering frocks and matching jewellery.

Below, we highlight the stars who wore it the best:

#1: Nicole Kidman

Australian beauty Nicole Kidman glowed in a gown from Alexander McQueen Spring Summer 2017. The distressed tulle train and sheer panelling, along with the bustier cut, made this one figure-flattering number.

#2: Emily Ratajkowski

American actress-model Emily Ratajkowski went for a bright yellow silk Reem Acra gown on the red carpet, complete with metallic chain detailing that showed off her enviable figure perfectly.

#3: Emma Stone

Actress Emma Stone, who won her first Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for her work in La La Land, went for ladylike elegance and wowed in a light pink Valentino Haute Couture gown, complemented by a sparkling diamond-studded necklace.

#4: Heidi Klum

The German-American model and television personality showed off her modelling chops in a chic cut-out black and white sleeveless couture gown from French brand J. Mendel, paired with slicked-back hair and matching monochrome earrings.

#5: Naomie Harris

This striking Armani dress showed off the English actress’ toned figure fabulously. Props to her for keeping accessories to a minimum to let her outfit shine.

#6: Millie Bobby Brown

The Stranger Things breakout star opted for a demure Jenny Packham piece, and looked all grown-up – in a good way – in the sequinned tube dress, which was paired with heels in a matching hue.

#7: Chrissy Teigen

The American actress went for a romantic look in a figure-hugging, halter-neck gown from Marchesa’s Fall Winter 2016 collection. While the peplum detail and floral embroidery might have made this look a tad old-fashioned, Teigen carried them well.

#8: Tracee Ellis Ross

The American actress, who won the Golden Globe for best actress in a comedy series for her role in Black-ish, donned a silver Zuhair Murad Spring ’16 couture gown and matching clutch, as well as Louboutin pumps, for the red carpet. Don’t be deceived by its simple silhouette: The intricate beading on the dress, as well as her bling-ed up digits from Lebanon-based jewellery label Yeprem, all made this look a winner.
