Mother’s Day is fast approaching (it’s next Sunday, May 13, just FYI) and if you’ve yet to secure a present, here are some stylish (and sometimes practical) gift ideas for every budget:
Pandora’s new Shine range caught our eye recently – it’s the Danish brand’s first ever yellow gold-plated series – and I have to say, this honeycomb-patterned ring is my favourite of the lot.
You can never really go wrong with French brand A.P.C.’s ultra-chic staples and this dainty little shoulder bag can pretty much serve for all occasions.
When almost the entire Female team is using this particular power bank, you know it’s doing something right. With a chic quilted motif and an impressive 10,000 mAh battery, it’s a gift everyone can appreciate.
Spring/Summer 2018 is Phoebe Philo’s final Celine collection to be shown on the runway and if you, like us, are huge Philo-philes, you’ll want to get something from the collection to remember her by. This stunning necklace is a keeper with its artsy pendant that’ll go well with a white T-shirt.
We predicted that Givenchy’s new creative director Claire Waight Keller would be coming up with It-bags for the house and we clearly aren’t wrong – the brand-new GV Bucket bag gives the traditionally hobo-ish bucket bag a chic makeover, no?
How to stop your mom from nagging at you? This book might just do the trick.
Akoya pearls are rare, cultivated pearls from Japan known for their beautiful shine and organic shape. Homegrown design store Supermama has just released their first ever jewellery collection (earrings, rings, necklaces and bracelets) based entirely around the pearls and if you’re looking for classy baubles to get your mother, this is a great option.
Personally, we love the fine, delicate chain – it gives the pearl a more contemporary vibe. The Akoya pearl range is available at Supermama’s new Wheelock Place store.
Possibly the chicest sun protection out there? We’d like to think so. Heck, I’d wear it even if it was overcast.
Esse The Label is one of our favourite local eco-friendly labels and this dress in a beautiful rose hue would work for most women, I imagine.
Black works on almost all occasions and we like that it’s punched up with the addition of the chain clasp that’s so signature of Chloe.
These days, almost everyone is getting into being eco-friendly – and it’s only going to get stronger as a movement; I don’t see this as merely a passing trend. So with that in mind, why not get your mom a reusable tumbler – handy for the office. (As opposed to a wasteful takeover cup of coffee, urgh) Kleen Kanteen makes some of the more stylish ones too.
The baby blue hue of these perforated leather slides is a lovely, unexpected colour and would look great with almost any outfit and perfect for the weekend, no?
While we don’t have the local price for this intricate piece (it’s inspired by the solar system, as you may have guessed from the name), Hodinkee lists it as US$245,000, which makes it nearly S$330,000. Well. We did say for every budget, didn’t we? .
Just FYI, the stones meant to represent planetary figures re precious, such as pink mother-of-pearl for Mercury, green enamel for Venus, turquoise for Earth, and a diamond for the Moon. Add the fact that the bezel (the ring surrounding the watch face) is set with diamonds, and that it’s super complicated – the movement of the “planets” on the watch actually mirror the speed at which the real-life planets orbit the sun. How’s that for cool?
And finally, the aesthetics speak for themselves – it’s one hell of a beautiful watch. If you’ve got the dough to spend, go ahead.
