Nothing says Christmas like binge-watching Macaulay Culkin in the Home Alone series. For its holiday campaign, Mulberry combined two of our favourite guilty pleasures — films and family — this time of the year into one feel-good project.

The two-part Youtube short called It’s What’s Inside That Counts revolves around a British family returning to their childhood home for the Yuletide season. The first (above) was launched yesterday, while another is slated later in the month.

A pet project of the brand’s creative director Johnny Coca, the most endearing thing about the film is its cast of children. Here, we make sense of the other things we love about this outing.

Nothing says Christmas like binge-watching the Home Alone movie series. And Mulberry taps into our sentiment for films and family (especially during this festive time of the year) for its holiday campaign,

The two-part YouTube short called It’s What’s Inside That Counts revolves around a British family returning to their childhood home for the Yuletide season. The first (above) was launched yesterday, while another is slated later in the month.

A pet project of the brand’s creative director Johnny Coca, the most endearing thing about it is the cast of children. Here, we note down the other things that we love about this film.

#1: Two indie film maestros worked on this project

Coca roped in New York-based director Albert Moya, who’s known for his ironic and melodramatic vignettes, and his work with brands like Dries Van Noten. The screenplay is written by British illustrator and author Hugo Guinness who was behind Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel. Bottomline: Expect some witty and brilliant moments.

#2: The soundtrack is the bomb

Thank American electro dream-pop band Au Revoir Simone for the audio pleasure.

#3: The cast are the ones to watch

Child actors make up the entire cast, acting out roles from a fault-finding mother to bickering sisters. Amongst them is Beau Gadson (above) of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story fame whom we think might just be the next Millie Bobby Brown. Plus, who can resist seeing precocious children acting as adults?

#4: Anglophiles will love the set

ij9If you’ve been surviving on a pop culture diet of The CrownVictoria and Downtown Abbey, you will love this one for its set. The entire film was shot at the grand West Horsley Place in Surrey, the former estate of the late Duchess of Roxburghe, Mary Innes-Ker.

#5: There’s the It bag cameo

Actually, it’s more than a cameo. Spoiler alert: The Mulberry Bayswater plays a major part in the ending.
