The sneaker style was launched in tandem with the brand’s “Do You” campaign, fronted by British model-turned actress Cara Delevingne. Its message: To inspire women to be confident in their own skin.
Apart from retaining the original silhouette of Puma’s Basket sneakers, the updated designs ($139 each) offers two lacing options. For a debonair look, knot up the satin ribbons into a bow, or go down the old-school route with classic chunky laces.
Monochromatic hues are available as well as pastel iterations with satin and denim finishes.
The newest additions to the range, which drops in stores on 16 February, exude the same girlish sentiments. For starters, there’s the Suede Heart Satin, which puts a different spin on the court classic by featuring premium suede uppers paired with satin laces. This chic update ($120) comes in three different colourways: ultra magenta, grey violet and classic black.
The Basket Heart Explosive ($139), meanwhile, has a more distinctive street vibe. Available in monochromatic hues, the brand’s signature formstripe gets updated with an iridescent treatment. This version comes in a premium leather upper with the same interchangeable lacing options as other models.
