Spring 2018 fashion month will be upon us soon – New York kicks off on September 7, before finally concluding in Paris on October 3. As with every season, there will be hero pieces that turn up on many of the show-goers – brands like Prada, Celine, Gucci and Balenciaga are always sure bets. Here, our predictions on what will be appearing (repeatedly) on your favourite fashion editors and #influencers next month during fashion week.
Yes the price may be staggering but there’s reportedly a long waiting list for these glittery runway boots. Rihanna snagged them immediately after the show and has already shown them off on her Instagram back in March, days after the Fall 2017 show.
Maria Grazia Chiuri paired nearly every look from her Dior show with these berets and while berets have been trending for awhile – no thanks to the likes of Bella Hadid (who appears determined to revive any and every ’90s and early ’00s trend) – Dior’s version is probably the ultimate.
The next must-have from Celine? These “Alphabet” necklaces (yes, the pendants are available in all 26 alphabets, and are sold separately), which could be the 2017 take on those ubiquitous nameplate necklaces popularised by Sarah Jessica Parker in Sex and the City.
Celebrities can’t get enough of pantsuits – and it appears, designers are in agreement with them this season, where strong, statement-making suits appeared in almost every show. If you’re not a suit girl though, consider just the blazer – just make sure it’s a double-breasted one, ideally in a plaid pattern and slightly oversized.
Fanny packs are one of the trendiest bag styles to tote now, seen repeatedly at the men’s spring 2018 shows and on one Kendall Jenner. Among the high fashion brands, Gucci has been one of the most consistent proponents of the style and this one will undoubtedly be seen on countless street style stars.
Fashion fiends will no doubt be familiar with this blue, red and white Balenciaga logo that first appeared at the brand’s fall 2017 men’s show – it paid homage to US Democratic politician Bernie Sanders. Get ready to see a lot of these pumps – and the logo.
Boy wonder J.W. Anderson sent out these cute bread motifs on oversized safari hats at Loewe’s fall 2017 show and while the hats might not be for everyone (I love them though), carb lovers might find it easier to digest the bread motif through tote bags.
Prada’s first official jewellery collection pays homage to the idea of talismans (using materials like sea shells, crystals and wood) and I have to say, we could all do with the idea of one in these troubled times.
While we’re still sad that founder Consuelo Castiglioni leave Marni, new creative director Francesco Risso appears to be carrying on the brand’s signature quirkiness, as exampled by these glass bulb furry sandals. Perfect for the late summer weather in September.
Fendi’s new It bag of the season, the Runway, looks to be the next hit of the house. Done in luscious red velvet though, it’s an instant eye-catcher (and street style photographer magnet). Pair the bag with any of these red shoes and you’re good to go.
