Crystal-embellished sneakers, plimsolls with twisted bow details, and grosgrain ribbon ankle-strap flats. These footwear styles may have been dominating street style and the fashion sneaker market for the past few seasons, but the last place you’d expect them would be Czech shoe retailer Bata (blame it on their tagline we grew up with “First to Bata, then to School”).
But beyond the commercial and sensible shoes that the 123-year-old brand is well-known for, Bata has had its fair share in kick-starting some street style trends, largely thanks to its revival of its Heritage line which is the brand’s collection of vintage cult classics. Just consider how the Bata Tennis shoes were sought after in 2014 and, more recently, the recent relaunch of the ’70s Bata Bullets sneakers. Those re-editions aside though, the F/W ’17 collection might also just raise the fashion cachet of Bata shoes. Here, we zoom in on the details.
