Apart from the Tangs by Tangs Plaza pop-up showcasing local designs by Lasalle College of the Arts students, shopping in Singapore this week hits superhero proportions with the Wonder Woman Valentino collection, and also sees the debut of Swatch’s most creative watch offerings yet.
So Captain America: Civil War is reaping in huge profits and rave reviews since landing on cinema screens (it actually received a 91 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes). But if your type of superhero is more like Wonder Woman (after all, women who kick *ss rule), then Italian brand Valentino’s latest capsule collection is for you. Designed in partnership with Italian street artist SOLO, the collection comprises both ready-to-wear ($1,500-$12,000) and accessories ($1,500-$6,000) emblazoned with a distinctive star motif, just like the ones on the Wonder Woman costume. Available now at #01-03 Ion Orchard
The Swiss brand churns out one of its most fun – and versatile – collections yet with the Swatch Pop. Every watch here comes with a special clip which allows you to attach it to anything from your bag strap to your yoga mat. There is also an accessories range comprising coloured neck chains, a metal pocket chain and a magnifying table clock stand. From $140 for watches with an attached chain to $114-$125 for watches, available now at all Swatch stores (#B2-37 Ion Orchard)
The hip museum boutique introduces a slew of new labels this May. Amongst them are local jewellery brands like Pyar, which specialises in quirky heart-shaped necklaces and rings made of rose gold and 18K gold; Mindful Company, which sells “reminder bands” that come with motivational engravings; and Twin Within, an Icelandic design studio operating in Singapore that uses unconventional materials like rubber tubes for its handmade necklaces.
