If Rihanna’s Instagram feed and her Fenty Puma shows are anything to go by, then this A-Lister surely knows the art of accessorising precious bijoux with hard-edged street fashion. Which is possibly why, her recently announced collaboration of high and fine jewellery with Swiss jeweller Chopard is — to borrow a line from the singer’s own song — going to “work, work, work, work, work”.
The backstory of the collection is a simple one: it’s based on Rihanna’s Bajan roots and the street carnivals of her native Barbados. The one-of-a-kind high jewellery pieces will premiere in May for the red carpet, to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the Cannes film festival, which Chopard is the official partner. Among the pieces in this series: a pair of super festive chandelier earrings with sapphires, tsavorites, rubelites, green beryls, aquamarines, tourmalines, rubies, amethysts, topazes, lazulites, and diamonds.
Meanwhile, the fine jewellery pieces that Riri created includes a transformable diamond ear clips and a geometric pink gold sautoir with green ceramic. Another reason why this nine-piece strong collection is cool: it uses ethically mined gold called Fairmined. The fine jewellery collection will be available in June with pre-orders online at and Chopard boutiques from April 7.
