More is more when it comes to foundation shades, having a variety means a better likelihood of you finding the right shade for you. And with inclusive beauty gaining traction, we’re expecting to see even more beauty brands expanding their shade selection for their foundations. Here are 10 diverse ranges that’ll give you the option of swatching until you find your perfect shade.
Singapore carries 57 shades of M.A.C Cosmetics’ Studio Fix Fluid SPF. The formula is colour-true and long-wearing up to 24 hours, and gives medium-to-full buildable coverage and a matte finish. It is suitable for all skin types, although those with oily skin will find this great because it helps control oil and shine.
With 50 shades – 40 when it first launched – Fenty Beauty’s Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation did not make history as the first foundation (or beauty brand for that matter) to offer a wide range of shades. It did, however, make such a big splash (all thanks to RiRi’s star power) and impact on the industry that it led to many other bigger and more established brands pulling up their socks and launching/relaunching their foundations in more shades in a bid to be as inclusive.
The Lock-It Liquid Foundation has one of the widest ranges available in Singapore with 45 shades. The vegan-friendly formula gives natural medium-to-full coverage with just one or two pea-sized droplets. The natural matte finish is also waterproof, fade-proof and transfer-resistant for up to 24 hours.
You should be able to find a true match with Cover FX’s Power Play Foundation, which has 40 shades. The matte-finish foundation helps control shine with sweat-proof powders, which is great for Singapore’s hot and humid weather. It also gives medium-to-full buildable coverage.
The brand’s Double Wear Stay-in-Place has 40 shades, and has buildable medium-to-full coverage to give a natural matte and shine-free finish that lasts for up to 24 hours. It is also oil-free and transfer-resistant, even in Singapore’s heat and humidity. Plus, it’s dermatologist-tested and won’t clog pores.
The brand’s Skin Longwear Weightless Foundation comes in 36 shades and gives full coverage with a matte finish. The formula has been tried and tested in extreme heat and humidity, and is said to last up to 16 hours. It also has marine sugar cane algae extract, glycerin and mineral powders to hydrate skin and control shine and is vegan-friendly, paraben, sulphate and gluten-free, and dermatologically tested to be non-comedogenic.
Created for the film and TV industry, MUFE’s Ultra HD Foundation has 35 shades in total. It has a breathable formula that gives medium coverage and a photo-ready, second-skin finish.
Makeup brand Nars’ Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation comes in 33 shades. The formula uses micronised amino acid-coated pigments to make it blend seamlessly into skin and “adapt” to your skin tone. This means it’s made to give a true second-skin finish. The foundation is also breathable, lightweight, fade- and transfer-resistant. Plus, a blend of raspberry, apple and watermelon extracts helps smooth out skin texture to impart a natural radiance (thus the name) to skin.
The Vanish Seamless Finish Liquid Foundation comes in 32 shades, and has special pigments that help create a smooth, long-wearing finish. It is also fade, transfer, sweat and water-proof, vegan-friendly, cruelty-free and non-comedogenic.
Bare Minerals’ Bare Pro Foundation is a compact option for a breathable, light and powdery finish. This pressed mineral foundation will ensure natural looking and feeling coverage and is also packed with goodies that ensures strong staying power. Expect to look flawless in pictures.
