If your complexion often feels dry or easily irritated, chances are, it lacks ceramides – essential fatty acids that occur naturally in skin. Much like how cement holds up a brick wall, they’re the “glue” that binds the topmost layer of skin cells together. This is why when ceramide levels are low, cells become loosely organised, and skin has difficulty retaining moisture.

Understanding its importance, Elizabeth Arden created the Ceramide range to replenish these lipids, and has recently added two new products to it: a Replenishing Cleansing Oil and Youth Restoring Essence.

The cleansing oil gently removes makeup and impurities, and has vitamin E and omegas 3, 6 and 9, to supposedly nourish skin and strengthen its barrier function.

The essence is a hydrating, antioxidant-rich toner that promises to soften and refine the complexion.
