A high-tech treatment that relies on radio frequency (RF) to tighten skin, the Senze Renewal Proionic facial starts with a double cleanse, followed by exfoliation using a sonic cleansing device (it vibrates at high speeds to loosen and remove surface dead skin cells). Next, a 10-minute-long hydrating gel mask and a quick extraction before the RF portion of the facial, which lasts about 35 minutes.
In the first half, high currency currents are applied in circular motions to my face with a flat porcelain massage head – meant to boost microcirculation in the epidermis (the top layer of skin). For the second half, a stainless steel massage head is used instead, so that the currents can reach the deeper dermis layer to supposedly stimulate collagen production and break down fats. To end, a sheet of SK-II Skin Signature 3D Redefining Mask is left on my face while I’m treated to a relaxing scalp and shoulder massage.
And what a difference the past 85 minutes make – my skin looks dewy and more radiant immediately after, and feels plumper and softer. A thoughtful bonus: optional brow shaping during the treatment. $480, SK-II Boutique Spa, #02-06 Shaw Centre (tel: 6836-9168)
