Dyed hair isn’t easy to maintain, and re-colouring your locks frequently can cause dryness, hair breakage, skin irritation and more. Launched this month, UK-based haircare brand John Frieda’s Brilliant Brunette at-home range is a collection of haircare products that not only help to lighten brown hair in one use, but adds shine and keeps it smooth.
This has a two-chamber dispenser which releases a low-level peroxide developer (to open the cuticle and allow colour to penetrate) and a surfactant activator that react together to break down melanin in hair and hence lighten hair colour. Apply all over hair or focus on the roots and leave on for five minutes, then rinse off and follow with shampoo and/or conditioner. Apply this once a month for optimal results.
Use this daily to subtly lighten your brown hair – it contains yellow dyes that will add brighten the brownish hues in your hair and give it a golden, sun-kissed effect.
This has a light reflection technology that helps to add body and movement to your locks.
My verdict? After two weeks of using them, my brown hair has turned a shade lighter and has also become softer and smoother. Available now at selected Watsons and Guardian stores
