A recent McKinsey report stated that the global beauty industry which has been said to ‘generate $500 billion in sales a year continues to remain resilient’ in spite of the pandemic.
Despite the good news, beauty brands and retailers have adapted their business in this age of social distancing. Challenged by regulations against testing out products in stores, a growing number of brands have continued to dish out beauty tech solutions to help with the process.
In the last year, Sephora has updated its official app with a ‘Virtual Artist’ artificial intelligence (AI) feature to help customers sample in-store products, while Anastasia Beverly Hills allows its audience to achieve #BrowGoals with their new augmented reality (AR)-powered Golden Ratio Brow App.
Chanel‘s taking things a step further with what is says is the world’s first Lipscanner app that can help you identify your desired lip shade from the range of colours and textures in the maison’s lip universe.
Designed in collaboration with CX Lab*, the Chanel Beauty Lipscanner is futureproofed in finding the lippies you desire in a matter of two clicks. Through the Colour Picking feature, the Lipscanner will be able to pick out the colour that inspires you – be it from an editorial spread or landscape – and through its algorithm, recommend your dream shade.
On top of this, if you desire a shade that closely mimics your natural lip colour, the feature will also be able to look up matching lippies for you. Now onto the fun part, the Virtual Try On feature gives you free reign to virtually test the products.
Want to give this app a test drive? Download the Chanel Beauty Lipscanner app exclusively on Apple’s App Store from May 4.
