Australian beauty brand Aesop might not release new products very often, but when they do, it’s usually a home run. After all, it’s line of skin, body and hair care products are loved for their uber chic packaging, gorgeous scents (they’ll make your bathroom smell like you’re at a spa) and effective formulas.
So when we found out Aesop was launching a new skincare range for combination skin, we were immediately interested. After all, combi is not only one of the most complicated skin types to have (oily and dry at the same time?!), it’s also one of the most common in Singapore.
The Aesop In Two Minds collection addresses the complex needs of combination skin and helps to restore your complexion to a state of calm equilibrium. The line consists of a cleanser, toner and moisturiser, with each containing a potent blend of ingredients and botanicals to balance and soothe skin.
According to Dr Rebecca Watkinson, Aesop’s Innovation and Research Manager, combination skin is typically characterised by an oilier t-zone or forehead, with dry to very dry skin across the cheeks, and a greater tendency towards reactivity.
“Over the past decade we have observed an increasing prevalence of combination skin among our customers, particularly in warmer climates, and they were finding it increasingly difficult to manage this challenging and often reactive skin type,” explains Dr Watkinson.
“In response we have formulated the In Two Minds range to address the multifaceted nature of combination skin and restore the skin’s delicate balance. Each of the products work together to gently cleanse combination skin, normalise sebum production, soothe irritation and provide lightweight hydration without overburdening the skin.”
The brand took three years to formulate the range at Aesop’s Melbourne laboratory, with a large portion of this focusing on developing the Facial Cleanser. “Cleansing is an important first step in caring for combination skin. It is crucial to use a mild cleanser that does not strip or aggravate the skin. Our In Two Minds Cleanser is a gel-based cleanser containing Salicylic Acid, and offers gentle yet thorough cleansing, removing excess sebum without aggravation,” says Dr Watkinson.
The In Two Minds Facial Toner is infused with Niacinamide and Panthenol to soothe and balance the skin, while the moisturising Facial Hydrator contains an effective blend of botanical ingredients (like andiroba, copaiba and acai oils) nourish and hydrate without overburdening combination skin.
The In Two Minds range will be available in Singapore at Aesop signature stores, select department store counters and Aesop Online from 3rd April.
