The French fashion label’s creative director has developed a green woody fragrance for the new B. Balenciaga collection – and it’s available in Singapore now.

Alexander Wangs First Perfume For Balenciaga Has Notes Of Edamame And We Love It

The B. Balenciaga collection includes fragrances in three sizes ($104-$185), a shower gel ($69) and a body lotion ($91).

At first whiff, the scent – used in the fragrance, shower gel and body lotion – is subtly floral (lily of the valley) with underlying woody notes (cedarwood and cashmeran wood). To Wang, this encapsulates the feminine yet mysterious and sensual personality he wanted the perfume to embody. Speaking to Vogue.com last September, he explained that he chose lily of the valley as a key component of the fragrance because it reminded him of his close friend Vanessa Traina, who used the flower during her wedding. In that same interview, Wang also shared that a green edamame accord was created because he wanted a more green note for its crisp, clean finish.

The fashion house’s modern aesthetic is also reflected in the perfume bottle design; its cracked frosted glass facade is inspired by Balenciaga’s first store at 10 Avenue George V in Paris. Its transparent arched Plexiglas cap pays homage to the brand’s latest ready-to-wear and accessories collection: for Spring Summer ’15, there are sheer embroidered coats and tops with translucent sleeves. Now available at Sephora (Ion Orchard and Ngee Ann City) and Tangs (Orchard and VivoCity).
