There’s no doubt that Los Angeles is probably one of the coolest cities in fashion right now. Not only did Hedi Slimane move the Parisian house of Saint Laurent to L.A. back in 2012, Louis Vuitton and Givenchy also presented their most recent Cruise and S/S shows respectively there. So it’s hardly any wonder that Chanel would choose the sunny city as the inspiration for its latest makeup line. Aptly named Collection L.A. Sunrise, the range consists of bright, bold and fun shades to reflect a sunny Californian vibe.
Here’s a sneak peek of the collection, which will be available in Singapore on Dec 31:
Sunkiss Ribbon blusher
This light-diffusing blusher is definitely the star of the range. Interlacing ribbons of fuchsia pink, soft coral, intense red, coppery beige and fresh pink mimic the sky on an early Californian morning when the sun is just rising. The multi-use palette can be applied over the entire face as a finishing touch, on the cheeks for a subtle rosy glow, just beneath the cheekbones for contours or just as a wash of colour to emphasise the temples, forehead and facial contours.
Les 4 Ombres eyeshadow palette in #262 Tisse Beverly Hills
Inspired but the colours of the Califonian ocean, this eyeshadow palette has shades of turquoise, radiant mauve, deep purple and a pearlescent silvery beige.
Illusion D’ombre eyeshadows
These cream eyeshadows can be used on their own or as a base to accentuate your eyes. The rosy beige Moonlight Pink glimmers with subtle sparkles, the green Griffith Green is vibrant and shimmery, while the blue Ocean Light is intense and pigmented.
Stylo Yeux Waterproof eyeliner
A smudge-proof eyeliner (more of our recommendations here) with a soft, silicone-enriched formula to deliver smooth, long-lasting definition. Purple Choc is a deep purple tone, Fervent Blue was named after surfers riding the waves, while the gold-flecked Pacific Green captures the vegetation of the canyons.
Rouge Coco Shine lipsticks
Often referred to as a fashion accessory for your lips, these brighten your face with a single stroke. It’s saturated with pigments but still remains incredibly weightless. The colours exemplify the energy of the omnipresent L.A. sun. Shipshape is a bright orange, Mighty a candy pink, and Energy is an intense raspberry.
Le Vernis Nail Gloss nail polish
Not really blue, not exactly purple, this amethyst-like glossy shade shimmers in the sunlight.
