altuzarra beauty pre fall 2015

It was the be-all and end-all ’do in the late ’80s to early ’90s. If you had a long fringe, or were growing one out, you slicked it back. When you had a powwow, you slicked it back. Hot date in an LBD? You added even more gel (KMS was the bomb then) till your hair became a sleek, shiny and, um, rock-hard helmet. The modern version (seen here in Altuzarra Pre-Fall) is more ladylike than lady boss: Nourishing, smoothing hair oil or serum replaces moisture-zapping gel for the same glossy finish that you (and your man) can run your hands through.

An adapted version first appeared in Female‘s July issue, out on newsstands now.
