On the weekends when I’m laying in bed in the mornings (or more accurately, early afternoons), I tend to browse through Instagram Stories. This has led to the realisation that one common activity many of my friends seem to be doing recently is working out. It could be hitting the gym, running a few rounds in the park, or hauling themselves to fitness classes. It could also be as simple as indulging in a healthier lifestyle by way of an acai bowl. What I’ve gleaned is that all these aren’t to ensure that the numbers on the weighing scale are in a downward trend — it’s to stay fit, and get toned.

If you’re keen to get on the path, below, we round up the best places, treatments and products to get you started on your wellness and fitness journey.

Treatments

When it comes to treatments, many are now more focused on toning and firming up the body instead of the ordinary slimming treatments. Ahead, three new ones to try.

keep fit

Strip Thermal Shape, $400 for 2 hours

Targeted at the lower half of the body (read: thigh, buttocks and pelvic area), this non-invasive treatment aims to tone the skin, reduce the appearance of cellulite and break down unwanted fat pockets. It uses a four-in-one system that is divided into two segments: an Ultrasonic Cavitation and Thermal O2. The former reportedly helps to emulsify fats by using low-level ultrasonic waves to convert fat deposits to liquid, which are then naturally passed out of the body. The latter, on the other hand, uses a combination of radio frequency, vacuum suction and heat energy to increase the body’s natural detoxification process, contract the collagen (it even encourages its production) fibres to give a more lifted look and reduce the appearance of cellulite.

Bella Marie France Venus Supreme, $420 for 30 minutes

This non-invasive treatment uses an all-new device known as Body Applicator, which reportedly aids in collagen production and body contouring while combatting common skin concerns like cellulite, fat retention and loose skin. The new device is said to have the largest spot size in the industry for maximum comfort and is integrated with a 4D Technology that works together with a patented Multi-Polar Radio Frequency and Pulse Electro Magnetic Fields (also known as (MP)2) Technology. The Multi-Polar Radio Frequency Technology ensures uniform heat distribution across targeted areas and also stimulates dermal fibroblast that is key for wound healing. The non-thermal Pulsed Electro Magnetic Fields Technology then triggers the early formation of connective tissue and vascular network. It encourages collagen synthesis and slows down cell degeneration to provide the medical benefits of pain-relief as well as wound and bone healing.

Calvin Chan Aesthetic & Laser Clinic Emsculpt, $900 for 30 minutes

Said to be the first non-invasive body shaping procedure that targets both fats and muscles, this treatment utilises a new technology called High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM) Energy. The energy released per session reportedly induces 20,000 supramaximal muscle contractions that are accompanied by a rapid metabolic reaction in fat cells to not only strengthen and build muscle but also burn fat for a firm, contoured look.

Fitness Classes

If you have been wanting to book yourself in for a class but have no idea which studio to head to, here are three newer ones that you might want to check out.

Boom Singapore

keep fit

Located at Telok Ayer, this relatively new fitness space was founded by former Olympian and national swimmer Bryan Tay and his wife Victoria Martin-Tay. The fitness boutique focuses mainly on boxing and its signature workout known as Boom Box is a rigorous 45-minute session that is suitable for novices and fitness enthusiasts alike. It consists of 10 rounds of boxing power and precision, which are then interspersed with targeted weight training for strength development. But you don’t have to worry too much as the entire workout session is set in a backdrop of awesome beats and funky lights to help alleviate any tiredness.

Pure Yoga @ Suntec City

keep fit

Situated in the heart of the central business district area is Pure Yoga, which is its newest and fourth studio location islandwide. Its latest boutique offers over 130 classes a week and features sleek interiors inspired by intricate yet contemporary mandala patterns. In addition to its already robust lineup of yoga classes, the new studio will offer a variety of meditation and restorative classes too. What else we love about the new space: it houses both private and small group studios, alongside hot yoga studios, wall rope and aerial yoga facilities.

Absolute You

keep fit

Thailand-based boutique fitness brand Absolute You first launched in Singapore back in Aprill and is also the brand’s first international venture. Located at Peranakan Place on the prime belt of Orchard Road, the 6,000 square feet fitness boutique features a range of different activities such as yoga, pilates and cycling to choose from.
