The Under The Radar Korean Makeup Brands Writer Sofia Kim Loves

You might already own a handful of products from popular beauty brands such as Etude House and Mamonde as these are some of the more influential brands that have outlets here in our city. But if you’re looking to explore alternative South Korean brands that have yet to reach our shores but still produce high-quality makeup products, here’s my tongue-in-cheek guide to my favourite under-the-radar brands.

#1: A'Pieu
Known as the more affordable sister brand of popular Korean beauty brand Missha, its products are equally as effective as the latter. The brand targets young women in their 20s who suffer from sensitive skin as the products are formulated with mild ingredients. Another thing the brand is known for: it’s ultra cute collaborations with animated characters such as Doraemon and Rilakkuma. A'Pieu Water Light Tint
This lip tint is highly pigmented and glides easily onto my lips without sticking to my dry patches. It is also infused with floral and fruit extracts to keep lips moist and nourished. #2: Banila Co
Backstory: Banila Co was one of the first beauty brands to come up with CC creams. The brand strongly believes in a skin-first philosophy, focusing on base makeup and cleansing products (its Clean It Zero cleansing balm is a cult item). Banila Co Seoul Fox Tail Mascara Waterproof
This long-lasting waterproof mascara lifts and thickens my lashes without weighing it down. It also does not clump up and separates my lashes for a fuller and more volumised appearance. #3: Nakeup Face
The brand’s name is a play on the words “naked face” and “no makeup” which extends to its belief that confidence comes from natural beauty. Its products aim to enhance natural features, improve skin tone and is eco-friendly as well.   Nakeup Face WaterKing Cover Cushion
This lightweight cushion foundation is formulated with aloe vera and lotus flower extracts to hydrate my skin while still providing enough coverage to conceal any blemishes or dark circles. It also gives my skin a dewy, luminous glow. Heimish
This chic and super sophisticated Korean brand focuses on bringing out one’s natural beauty through its neutral shades and colours suited for everyday. Another plus: the brand’s Instagrammable packaging. Heimish Dailism Eyeshadow Palette
This is my go-to eyeshadow palette as it’s extremely compact but still allows me to create a variety of looks. Like this?
