Korean Makeup Artist Pony Talks Beauty Tips, Tricks And Hacks

If you're still unaware of her popularity, here's a simple breakdown: she has over three million subscribers on YouTube and 5.4 million followers on Instagram at time of writing. Not impressive enough? Well, she's recently been appointed ambassador of Shiseido Makeup too. We get up close with beauty afficionado Pony (real name: Park Hye Min) who talks beauty tips, hacks and more.

Five must-have items from Shiseido

Pony (P): “Firstly, the Synchro Skin Glow Cushion is super easy to use and great for beginners. It has a natural finish and light to medium coverage. I would also recommend the Minimalist Whipped Powder Blush as it is really longlasting and does not wear off easily even in humid climates like Singapore. Thirdly, the Aura Dew. It is a multi-tasking product, which you can use on different parts of your face and body such as your cheeks, the bridge of your nose, chin, cupid’s bow and even your shoulders. The Visionary Gel Lipstick also gets my vote as I really love how hydrating it is even though it has a matte texture. It’s really pigmented too. Lastly, I would pick the Essentialist Eye Palette. It has four different colours with different finishes from mattes to shimmers. It is great for beginners.”

Minimalist Whipped Powder Blush in #6

Vision Airy Gel Lipstick in #222

Her favourite lip and blush shades from the brand

P: “I really love the Minimalist Whipped Powder Blush in #6. It is a very wearable and versatile rosy pink that will suit any skin tone. Lipstick-wise, I’d choose the Vision Airy Gel Lipstick in #222 Ginza Red. It is an orangey-red that adds a pop of colour and can even brighten your complexion.”

Pro tip: Practice is key

P: “It’s really important to practice when it comes to makeup. When you get home after a long day, you can actually practice and create different looks before removing your makeup. It’s important to try different colours and products with different textures, and change up your eye makeup look.”
