Think Nars and you’ll most probably think ‘Orgasm’. We’re referring to the brand’s star shade – a peachy pink with golden shimmer – that has been reinterpreted from its original form of a powdered blush into differents forms like a lip balm, a liquid highlighter and even an oil-infused tint. Like ‘Orgasm’, the brand’s known for its bold, provocative shade names like ‘Deep Throat’.
Now, it’s gone and taken that same rule-breaking attitude and encapsulated it into a scent – its first fragrance that’s rightly named Audacious. Priced at $250, it’s in stores this month of October.
Designed in partnership with Olivia Giacobetti – the nose that’s behind some of Francois Nars’ personal favourite scents like the Hermès Hiris and various other scents by Diptyque – the scent is made to be an abstract study of contrasts, where light meets dark and sensuality meets individuality.
This perfume pays tribute to Francois Nars’ hometown of Tahiti. “Audacious is based on a source of great inspiration for me – Tahiti. Working closely with Olivia, we went through all the emotions and senses you feel in French-Polynesia, one being the mix of darkness and lightness,” he shared. This is
realised through notes of the Tiare flower, gardenia and a mix of dark woods and white florals to give rise to an aura that is minimal, modern and unexpected.
The sleek fragrance is contained in an equally sleek and sophisticated looking flacon that stays true to the fragrance’s theme of being a mixture of darkness and lightness – thanks to it being both crystal clear and mysteriously dark at the same time. We don’t know about you but we’d say this fragrance is pretty much one for the books.
