Fresh-smelling scents laced with tangy notes might be predictable for the mid-year “summer” period, but we’re seeing a breed that’s far from one note (yes, pun intended). Louis Vuitton’s Le Jour Se Leve ($370) was inspired by the first rays of the sun at daybreak, and melds sprightly blackcurrant with notes of jasmine sambac, creamy magnolia petals and apricot-tinged osmanthus to recreate that poetic moment in time. Prada’s Candy Sugar Pop ($152) – the latest from this signature line – is fruitier, but not typically so: delicate notes of peach and earthy vanilla mixed with vert de bergamote and floral mahonial, then topped with green apple citrus. Despite the name, it’s like the kind of women we love: not overly, annoyingly sweet.
