Gucci

Possibly one of the worst styles to emerge from the decade of really bad style, dense, defined curls in all sorts of graphic cuts have been creeping back into fashion, thanks to the likes of Demna Gvasalia and other purveyors of ironic chic.

The look isn’t easy to achieve (prepare to sit in the salon chair for hours) or pull off, and can feel offbeat. What this also means though, is that it can take a pretty, genial (read: boring) face into cool, fashion-forward territory. Case in point: Emma Stone, Lily Collins, and the models used by Valentino and Gucci (above) this Pre-fall. What makes it bad-turned-good instead of plain bad? Keep locks lustrous and frizz-free (some finishing cream helps) and don’t bring back that ’80s makeup at the same time – do you know what we mean?
