Once in a while, the beauty industry will collectively rave about the latest IT ingredient that’s currently hogging the spotlight in the beauty hemisphere. Recently, we had the buzzy plant-derived and gentler alternative to retinol – also known as bakuchiol.
And now, we have niacinamide. Although it might not be a super revolutionary, cutting-edge ingredient, we thought that we might still show it some love for its efficacy. Plus, it’s really been out-shadowed by fancy acids, when it’s actually an ingredient that’s very much skin-loving. Niacinamide, which is also called nicotinamide, is a form of vitamin B3.
It’s a water-soluble vitamin that works with the natural substances in your skin to help improve enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, fine lines, wrinkles, dullness, and a weak skin barrier. It’s also been touted as the cure to acne and rosacea, thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties. Compared to harsher skincare ingredients such as retinol and vitamin C, this one is said to be suitable for even the most sensitive of skin types. Below, a selection of skincare products with niacinamide.
