Being a beauty journo means I get a ton of skincare and makeup to try, review and write about. With only one face to test all the products, I almost never stick to one particular moisturiser or eyeshadow (these liquid versions are great for layering) for long. But once in a while, I get something that’s just so awesome that I put it on my roster of must-use-daily products.
One of them is Cle de Peau Beaute’s Le Serum ($420). The pre-serum has been a stable part of my beauty routine since its launch two years ago – I think I’ve gone through at least eight bottles since its release. Applied as the first step after cleansing, it never fails to leave my complexion looking more radiant and feeling smoother. Its watery texture gets absorbed very quickly so you never feel like you’re layering on too much skincare.
It works on a simple premise: Give skin cells a stable environment to grow and remain healthy. It does so with a cocktail of ingredients, which include the amino acid rich yeast extract and Chai Hu herb extract, to nourish skin tissue and strengthen its barrier function. It’s said to work not just on dullness and roughness, but on all problems from blackheads to redness and even breakouts, and leaves your complexion glowing and fresh.
For the holiday session, the luxury Japanese beauty brand is releasing a limited edition Rosalie version, designed in collaboration with jewellery designer Joji Kojima. Dressed up in a vibrant raspberry red, it’s obviously on the very top of my Christmas wishlist.
